IRRIGATION INFRASTRUCTURE

As one of the main elements of the rural development, GSD supports this activity under the strategic principles that get the traditional institutional paternalism, which has greatly affected the development of the rural villages, eliminated slowly.

SOCIAL CONTROL

An important strategic element in the components of the irrigation infrastructure is the Social Control, a mechanism through which the greatest transparency in the resource use is found, engaging the peasants themselves in the process of analysis and selection of supplies to purchase the irrigation materials, through which they preside over opening of supplies presented by the companies personally.

INVESTMENT RECOVERY

The total cost of the external input, realized through GSD for the construction of the irrigation works, is recovered through the Irrigation Board itself and the community, initially by paying one percentage of the cost of the works, and subsequently by the monthly payment which the beneficiaries of the irrigation made as the water flow was appropriated.

REINVESTMENT

This input, recovered in the construction of the irrigation works, is aimed at 50% to the capitalization of the community development banks, 25% to the community works, and 25% to the construction and maintenance of the irrigation works. This proposal of the fund reinvestment can vary according to the priority determined by the community and the members of the Irrigation Board.
